The cathedral is a stupendous model of Proto-Gothic architecture. Organised like a typical pilgrimage church, it has three naves, the central one of double width and greater height, cut by a transept and with an ambulatory that would have originally had three apsidal chapels.
Inside, the most striking feature is the henhouse where a cockerel and a hen live in memory of the miracle of the hanged pilgrim.
It is considered an Asset of Cultural Interest and was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument belonging to the National Artistic Treasure by decree of 3 June 1931.
