Foto: Raquel Manzanares.
Church of Santa María de Palacio
It is located in Calle Marqués de San Nicolás in Logroño, and is the only one that still has a cloister. Its origins date back to an earlier church, Santa María la Vieja, founded by the Order of the Holy Sepulchre, whose remains were found in the cloister courtyard.
This church has three naves, a transept and a triple chancel, the central one with a straight head and the octagonal side naves, which are interconnected. The oldest part is the foot area, which corresponds to the Romanesque works carried out at the end of the 12th or beginning of the 13th century. Photo: Raquel Manzanares.
