Viniegra de Abajo

Es una localidad integrante de las Siete Villas y se encuentra en la comunidad autónoma de La Rioja. Se sitúa entre el Camero Nuevo y la sierra de la Demanda, en lo que se conoce como la subcomarca del Alto Najerilla. Está a 881 m de altura sobre el nivel del mar, y dista 74 km de Logroño y 50 de Nájera. Por Viniegra pasa el río Urbión, un río que nace en los picos de Urbión, que están dentro del término municipal de la población.

La historia de Viniegra resulta apasionante. El hallazgo de tumbas y de una estela visigótica, encontrada hace pocos años en el recinto urbano del pueblo, apuntan a la existencia de asentamientos visigóticos y testimonian la antigüedad de la fundación de la villa.

Viniegra de Abajo

Viniegra de Abajo is a town in the Siete Villas region in the autonomous region of La Rioja. It is located between Camero Nuevo and the Demanda mountain range, in what is known as the Alto Najerilla sub-region. It is 881 m above sea level, and is 74 km from Logroño and 50 km from Nájera. The river Urbión flows through Viniegra, a river that rises in the Urbión peaks, which are within the municipal boundaries of the town.

The history of Viniegra is fascinating. The discovery of tombs and a Visigothic stele, found a few years ago in the urban area of the town, point to the existence of Visigothic settlements and testify to the antiquity of the foundation of the town.
